Born in 1969, Jonathan grew up outside of New York City in a house full of music. Jonathan’s parents have a passion for classical music, and exposed him to a wide range of classical works from Mahler to Beethoven.
At the age of 6, Jonathan picked up the violin and quickly became a small virtuoso. In the 1st grade, he was already playing solo performances for his school. Throughout grade school, he became a showcase at school performances.
In high school, Jonathan continued his violin career by playing 2nd violin in the Hunterdon Symphony Orchestra, where he enjoyed performing such works at Dvorak’s New World Symphony. At the same time, he also became enamored with the emerging computer revolution. He invested heavily in some of the very first PCs and taught himself how to program.
As high school progressed, Jonathan became seduced by the convergence of music and technology: the synthesizer. The 80’s synth-driven pop had fully taken hold of the airwaves, exposing him to a wide array of new and interesting sounds that never existed before. He literally traded in his violin (and 10 years of experience) for a synthesizer.
Armed with a synth, Jonathan formed a band and began using his computer to control his synthesizer to develop multi-track songs. This worked out well, as he began learning how to produce, arrange, and compose complex, layered compositions.
In college, Jonathan invested in more electronic instruments, continued composing originals, and also got a kick out of exactly replicating the top pop hits of the time. These exercises, combined with his internship at Centerfield Productions music studio under the direction of Mike Mainieri, further honed his production/arrangement skills, as he became studio-savvy. Jonathan was his most prolific in college, and composed dozens of songs—from traditional pop-rock songs to dance-oriented instrumentals. Jonathan found worthy band-mates in college, and joined the pop-rock band Blind Ambition. This band found some success, as Jonathan took over the management of the band, composed the majority of the songs, played keyboards, and sang back up vocals. Blind Ambition went as far as to showcase for several record labels, including Atlantic Records, in 1992.
Graduating from college with Computer and Music degrees, Jonathan took hold of the emerging Internet phenomenon by launching the break-though site MIDI.COM and helping companies utilize the Internet to improve their business.
Now that the Internet Revolution has settled down, Jonathan is refocusing on music, with a concentration on Electronic Instrumental—from lush instrumentals fit for movie soundtracks to catchy, danceable tunes akin to Moby, Orbital, Air, and Jean-Michel Jarre.
